USAC NATIONAL WIN #7 FOR THE 2018 USAC NATIONAL SPRINT CAR SEASON COMES AT THE LAST RACE IN PERRIS CA., CONGRATS TO SUNSHINE AND TEAM FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP

After 40 USAC National Races , it came down to the last lap of the last race  to determine the Championship.

Night one of the Budweiser Oval Nationals saw KTJ break the record for the number of fast times in a USAC National Sprint Car season. That record stood at 14, set by Tom Bigelow in 1978. KTJ transferred through heat #1 .  The track took rubber in the A Main and a 5th place A Main finish was the best we could do. Our point deficit was at -7 after night one.

Night two saw us qualify 6th quick and transfer through by winning the first heat. We were unable to capitalize on a front row starting position in the A main as Sunshine started next to us. A torrid battle ensued and we finished third.  The point deficit grew slightly and was -9 going into the season finale.

Being in the top 6 in points after the first 2 nights of competition, we were locked into the A Main. The dash saw us finish third and start there in the A Main. The circumstances that followed that into the A Main determined the USA National Sprint Car Championship. The Mean Green Hoffman Team did everything we could do , it just wasn’t meant to be. KTJ did his job and won the race. We had the race and championship in hand until the last lap of the last race. The car ahead of Sunshine ran out of fuel on the last lap allowing the #7 Team to tie in points.  Incredible to think that after all the races, starting in Florida in February, KTJ and Tyler Courtney would be tied with 2793 points each. The tie breaker was number of wins in a season, the Clauson Marshall Newman Team had 11, we had 7. Congrats to out good friend Tim Clauson and family on a Championship. We are very happy for you.
Thanks to KTJ, Whitney, Brad, AJ and Austin for an incredible year.  No one knows what the future brings, we just know this year was memorable in the storied history of Hoffman racing.

RESULTS FROM ARIZONA SPEEDWAY IN THE WESTERN WORLDS 2018
Night one saw a strong qualifying effort by the team as we were third .  Starting 6th in the third heat, KT worked his way up to a transfer position and then kind of stayed there the rest of the heat. The racing in the A main was intense as we finished 5th , with both Sunshine and The Bear finishing ahead of us. A loss of a few points.
Night two turned out to be significant in the chase for the National Championship. We missed it in qualifying and as it turned out it was a bad night to start deep in the field. Ending up 15th in qualifying had us start up front in the heat and  KTJ got the lead and never looked back for the win. Things looked promising with the start of the A Main as KTJ worked his way to the top 10. However at the mid-way mark the track took rubber. With the smell of rubber in the air, passing was at a premium as the single line racing finished the race. An 8th place finish saw the points cushion we had diminished to 2 points. So it all comes down to three nights at Perris in the Budweiser Oval Nationals this weekend. We feel confident this weekend, it should be exciting

THE HIGHLIGHT OF 3 CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS OF USAC NATIONAL SPRINT CAR RACING COMES AT GAS CITY WITH WIN #6 FOR THE 2018 SEASON FOR THE MEAN GREEN/JONATHAN BYRD/ LYKINS HOFFMAN TEAM
Thursday night was the completion of the rained out night three of the Smack Down. We were defeated in the first round of the King Of The Hill competition. We lost some positions mid-race with a bobble and finished a disappointing 10th at a track that KT has excelled on in the past.
Friday saw the return of USAC National Sprint cars to the Gas City quarter mile. KT ran a great lap and qualified 3rd.  He came through the pack to finish 2nd in his heat race. Starting 4th in the A Main, KT moved into the runner up position quickly. It was difficult to pass on the bottom so KT worked the top with the feeling that it would come in and be the fast way around. It payed off on lap 26 when he moved to the lead. KT was rewarded with a hard fought win #6 for the season. That gave the storied Hoffman Team, USAC National Sprint Car win # 107.
The Mean Green car qualified 2nd at our home track.  Passing was very difficult and we ran 5th in heat 3 of 3.  In the A Main the grooves were very high and mid-low track late.  We dropped to 6th and stayed between there and 5th most of the race.  KT had quite a torrid battle with Davey D in the last laps, holding on to a 5th place finish.
With 8 National races remaining in the 2018 season, we hold the points lead over Sunshine and Chris Windom.

NAVIGATING A TRICKY TRACK AT THE 4 CROWNS 2018
A huge crowd and about 120 race cars made for an exciting 4 Crowns at The Big E. Sprint cars were up first for hot laps and qualifying .  Kevin ran the car in the line he hot lapped on and was 2nd quick. He started 6th in heat 2 and put on a show of classic slide jobs.  Moving low in the turns, making the pass and sliding in front of the passed car. He ran away with the heat, which included plenty of tough competition.

The track was much different when it came time for the Sprint Car A Main. There wasnt much cushion left and it had slicked off quite a bit. Several cars tired up on the fence and paid the price, while Sunshine and Leary did a good job up top. KT make the wise choice and took a middle of the track line with good success, finishing 4th.

busy and important points week ahead  with races at Kokomo Thursday(Smackdown last night), Gas City Friday(rain date) and our home
track of THE BURG Saturday. See you there.

Two of KTJ's favorite tracks, Terre Haute and Tri-State were on the docket for Sept 14th and 15th.
The string of back luck continued when we went to qualify at TH and on the way to the track, a new RR got a cut and went flat. That resulted in missing our spot for qualifying, going last with only one lap and even though he was 7th quick time, could start no better than 12th. Transferring by finishing second in the heat race, KT put on a show in the A Main. He earned the "Hard Charger Award" by racing his way up to 5th by the time the checkered flew.

HaubstadtThe unique qualifying format at Haubstadt saw KTJ qualifying  10th quick in group 4. HeHabstadt Track transferred by winning heat 4 and started 3rd in the $10,00 to win Haubstadt Hustler.  KT quickly got to second behind Leary. Staying patient he saw an opportunity with 4 laps to go when lapped traffic came into play. A drag race down the front stretch saw KTJ get the lead. The final two turns gave us all a heart murmur when the car got out of shape, but KT used his extensive car control skills to straighten the Mean Green Hoffman Machine and  go on to his 5th USA National Sprint Car victory of the year.

The official USAC Sprint Car Hoffman victory count now stands at 106 National wins, 101 of which were points awarding wins, to go along with 11 USAC National Sprint Car Championships. Of course, there had to be drama.  The back markers got into a mess in turns 1&2 , KT couldn't get slowed enough to miss the carnage and tore up the front end. You will notice the one victory lane picture is on a 4 wheeler, LOL. When you think you have seen it all.
One of our favorites next Saturday, The 4 Crowns at The Big E.

TWO SECOND PLACE FINISHES NET THE POINTS LEAD FOR KTJ AND THE HOFFMAN MEAN GREEN CREW
I know that it is very frustrating for KTJ and crew to finish second twice this past weekend and so many times this year. However, consistent top 5 finishes leads to championships and the wins will come when you run up front.
Another fast time at Granite City,( I believe is number 14 for the USAC season), and transferring through heat 2 had KT starting 6th again in the A Main.  He fought his way to P3 by lap 14.  KTJ dueled with Brady Bacon and got by him with 2 laps to go.  By that time Sunshine was gone for the win.
An appearance at I55 Raceway saw KT qualify 3rd and win his heat.  KT and the #12 car were battling when in turn three when they made contact, somehow  KT regained control of the car, kept it going and lost a few spots. At one point he ran between two cars and got to the lead.  A vicious flip with 5 to go shut down running for over an hour to fix the catch fence. A young man who KT has mentored and housed got by on the restart and won his first USAC event.  Congrats to Jason McDougal and the Philips Team for the win.
Consistency has led to regaining the points lead, albeit by one point.  The top three are separated by 18 points.  You don't want to miss a race in this torrid championship hunt.

THE FIRST THREE NIGHTS OF THE KOKOMO SMACK DOWN 2018THE FIRST THREE NIGHTS OF THE KOKOMO SMACK DOWN 2018
If anyone has seen racing's Lady Luck, please send her to the #69 pits.  Since the July 26th race at Putnamville, and the car snapped , we flipped while leading the race, we have had no luck.  No whining here, just the facts.
Night one was a non-points race.  KT qualified 3rd and won his heat.  We got a cut RR tire while in contention for the win. Changed and recovered to a 9th place finish.
Night Two was the first USAC points race.  Fast again, Q 2nd and won the heat again. If this sounds familiar, we and a number of other cars got flat RR's, cut by rocks. This again ruined a good night and potential win , we finished 10th.
Night three saw KT earn another quick time for the year and won his heat going away from 6th.  Starting 6th again in the A main, KT worked his way to 4th by lap 13. He made the pass for third, but a yellow came out for a spin and we had to give the spot back. KT got under the car running third in turn #2 , that car hit the wall , bounced into to us and flipped the Mean Green Hoffman Machine. Most importunately KT was okay.

What followed was an amazing change of front ends, front shocks and bolt ons. All credit to Brad Alexander(crew chief) and AJ Parker( Mean Green crew member ),for leading the fix of the car and return to the track. Also a big shout out to members of other crews who helped get the car back together. KT valiantly battled his way back to 14th with a damaged car.

Amazingly , with all that trouble, we were 6th in Smack Down points and qualified for the "King of the Hill" run off for starting positions. The race was rained out and rescheduled for 9 September.
The good news is that we are fast every night and KT is driving his tail off. Things will turn around soon and we will battle for the Championship every race.

A TERRIFIC INDIANA SPRINT WEEK FOR THE MEAN GREEN HOFFMAN TEAM ENDS WITH A SECOND PLACE FINISH IN ISW 2018
Racing luck wasn’t our best friend the entire ISW and was that true for the last 3 races.  Fast times at Bloomington and Tri-State showed that we continue to have fast cars and a great driver.  Going for the win at Putnamville ,  resulted in contact with AJ Hopkins and falling back to 5th as a result of it.  Recovering to 4th before the checkered flew.

Starting 6th after quick time at Bloomington, KTJ made his way through the field and pushed the 30 car for everything he had .  Running all lines on the track, we just didn’t have anything for Mr Leary and finished 2nd.
Going in to the finale at Tri-State, we needed to fish 5 positions better than Chris Windom to win ISW 2018.  Another quick time had KTJ and Team with another challenge of catching both Windom and Courtney who started on the front row. BY the time the checkered flew we had caught the front 3 cars as the wheel to wheel action was spectacular.  KTJ did all he could and finished 4th for the race and second in ISW points.

ISW 2018 saw tremendous crowds each night and great racing.  It is always good to see old acquaintances and friends.  A well deserved rest for the crew , especially Brad and AJ, before returning to Kokomo for 4 nights of racing.

A PROMISING START GOES SOUR - NIGHT 4 OF ISW 2018
We went out about half way in qualifying and KTJ put down a very good lap again of 21.071, good enough for 4th quick.  We broke our string of 3 B Main’s in a row with a second place finish in heat #4.

KTJ started inside second row and made a brilliant move at the drop of the green by beating the front row into turn 1 and taking the lead.  We rocketed away , building a comfortable lead. By lap 3 Sun Shine had a head of steam and passed us for the lead. We ran second comfortably until about the half way mark, when Ballou and Kevin had a fierce duel for 2nd.  Looking at lap times and talking to Kevin after the race , that is when the motor started to fail us. The "missing motor" cost  us 2 more spots before the checkered flew.
Another tough break.  A preliminary inspection of the motor after the race showed what we hope is a minor fix. Coming back strong tonight at Putnamville. it owes us one.
Thanks to our webmaster Paul for some great shots !!!

RESULTS FROM THE FIRST TWO NIGHTS OF 2018 ISW
It seemed in the first two races of 2018 Indiana Sprint Week , the Mean Green HoffmanMachine was more of a ping pong ball than a race car.
At Plymouth, after qualifying 3rd quick, we were run into the wall , with some significant frame damage.  KTJ recovered and won the B Main. The car wasn’t the same after the heat race and Kevin hung in there for a 9th place finish in the A Main. Repair  work, cutting and replacing on the right front frame, was done Saturday when Kokomo was rained out.
Our home track of Lawrenceburg brought more challenges. We went out second to qualify , right after a mean flip by the first out. We thought our time of 14.2 would be mid-pack at best, but you never know, as we ended up 5th quick. By the time heat 1 rolled off, the track became narrow.  KTJ worked his way up to the transfer spot of 4th and tried for an insurance spot , knowing Grant and Bilbee were pressing, ran high in 4, bobbled and lost the transfer spot.  Another B run and another B Main win, as KT smoked the pack.

The A Main saw a track with multiple grooves and good racing and banging. Twice KT had to save the car after contact and somehow kept it running.   A wild last few laps saw KT work hard to advance, searching the track for some moisture. A second red flag flew on lap 30 which necessitated a green-white-checkered finish. A wild last two laps saw Sunshine, Leary and KTJ battling for the win. Leary got out of shape and KTJ passed for 2nd and almost ran the #7 down.  A great race and bounce back for us.
Kokomo, rescheduled for Tuesday night, will be the first of 5 straight to wrap up ISW 2018. KT was further back in ISW points last year at this stage and won the title. So anything goes yet!!!!!

ONE THAT GOT AWAY AT LINCOLN PARK SPEEDWAY
The annual 4th of July USAC National race at LPS was held Friday night this year.  The tricky 1/4 mile track proved to be so again this trip.  A huge crowd saw 37 sprint cars battle the night for the win.  Going out about half way, KT was able to earn a 7th quick time.

Heat race 3 had the potential to be a classic, with 5 of the top 10 in National points competing.  Among others KT had to deal with Grant, Stockon, Bacon and Windom, not to mention starting 5th.  It was a heat race for the record books with a tremendous hard fought 10 laps.  KT managed to pull off one of his best efforts of the year, battling wheel to wheel and passing Brady on the front stretch of the last lap to earn a 3rd place finish.
A front row starting spot awaited us for the A main. KT jumped out  to the lead and was gone.  He caught the rear of the field by lap 10.  He worked his way past several back markers with a track that was completely blocked at times. A lapped car moved up the track while KT was making a pass and made contact with us, sending the car in the air.  It is unclear if that contributed to what came next. After leading 22 laps, KT was approaching a blocked track , jumped the cushion and went airborne in tun 2.  He was okay.  When the car got to the pit area, it was looking okay except for a bent front axle. He was able to tag the field and finish the race.  A heart breaker for sure.  It is all part of a year.

True champions recover from disappointment and we are anxious to show our metal as Indian Sprint Week opens at Plymouth Speedway .  See you there.

RESULTS FOR THE EASTERN STORM 2018
The Mean Green/Jonathan Byrd/Lykins Energy Solutions/ Speedway Motors/Purple Heart Hoffman Team continued the early year success with the Eastern Storm. In addition to the 100th USAC Points Race victory at Swedesboro NJ, Kevin Thomas Jr set 4 quick times(2 of them new track records) out of 6 races, with A main finishes of 1st,2-2nd, 2-4th and a 10th.

We were in the points hunt for The Eastern Storm title, 1 behind going Chris Windom going into the last race, when bad luck with a blown engine in the heat race hit us on the last race of the series.

Now a well deserved rest from the pressure of points racing with the next USAC race scheduled for 6 July at Putnamville. See you there .

USAC NATIONAL SPRINT CAR POINTS RACE WIN #100 COMES WITH KEVIN THOMAS JR., FOR THE MEAN GREEN HOFFMAN TEAM  AT SWEDESBORO NJ
Kevin Thomas Jr started race #5 in The Eastern Storm with his 10th fast time of the season in 16 races, an unbelievable achievement.  It ended with the Mean Green/Jonathan Byrd/Lykins Energy Solutions/Speedway Motors/Purple Heart Hoffman Sprint Car winning USAC National Points Race #100 and the 4th this year.  When you add the 5 USAC National wins that did not award points, the mark is now 105.

I want to to thank all the drivers, sponsors and crew members who made it possible to achieve this goal. We are honored that KTJ drove the car to this milestone victory for the Hoffman family. We also want to thank our loyal fans, who have stayed with all these years through thick and thin. I know my Dad ,who started this team in 1929 ,is smiling down on us with pride "said Richard Hoffman , owner and president of Hoffman racing

“It’s an honor to be the driver to get them that milestone,” Thomas exclaimed.  “It’s something special and something you’ll remember until the day you die or tell your grandkids.  I’m glad they’ve given me this opportunity to run for them this year.  It’s very special to me and this team.  There’s a lot of people who’d like to be on a team like this.  I’m just glad the guys behind me are with me.”
The Eastern Storm concludes tonight with a race at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport NY.  KT is one point behind Chris Windom for the Easter Storm Championship.  A full report on The Eastern Storm will be posted after tonight's race.

USAC NATIONAL POINTS WIN #99 COMES AT I80 RACEWAY IN NEBRASKA
Kevin Thomas Jr continued his hot streak with his 3rd USAC National Sprint  win Friday night in Nebraska. The win is USAC National Points Sprint win #99 and USAC National Sprint  win #104 for the storied Hoffman Team.  KT served notice immediately in the Mean Green/Lykins Energy Solutions/Jonathan Byrd/Speedway Motors/Purple Heart Hoffman Sprinter by setting a new track record in qualifying.  His 6th fast time of the year.   (Ray Hague Photo)
Transferring through heat #1, KT started 6th in the A main. He got to the lead on lap 6, after a torrid duel with Brady and Chase.  He searched around the track and eventually found the top to be too dry and ran the bottom winning by a huge margin of 5 seconds. Congrats to Davey, Brad and the entire Team on providing Kevin with a competitive car race after race.
The weekend concludes with a race at the big , bad Knoxville Raceway.  Go get um KT.

KT WINS A NON-USAC RACE AT LAWRENCEBURG, THE “B TEAM” FINISHES SECOND
Saturday night KTJ won the sprint car race that was the complimentary race for Indiana Midget Week at Lawrenceburg.  Brady Bacon in the “the Hoffman B Team Car” finished second.  The two were obviously the class of the field .  Brady came from 5th, we got to second but had nothing for KT.
The night before at Bloomington on another complimentary race, Brady was fast in hot laps and then the typhoon hit. Big Red got stuck and took two wreckers to pull her out. I think she was tired after the long trip to Bloomington and needed more rest time. LOL
There apparently is some confusion about the Hoffman Teams, understandably so.  I apologize for not making this clear before. The so called B Team (we are open to other suggestions to name it) was formed to unite as many of the Team that had won 63 USAC National Races, 6 USAC National Sprint Car Championships and a Little 500 as possible. The idea was to have some fun without the points pressure, run local races etc. We had hoped that KT would be able to drive the car, but his schedule didn’t allow. So far Thomas Meseraull  and Brady Bacon have driven the B Team car. The B Team   includes owner Richard Hoffman owner, crew chief Dan Launderville , Tim Waechter, Tom Hoffman(all from original team) and Jeremy  and Mark. Of course we miss our leader for so many years , the retired Rob Hoffman. Not the same without you BUBBA.  We do not know how many races The B Team will run yet this year.  Without a credible driver available we will not run.

NOW I WANT TO BE PERFECTLY CLEAR.  KEVIN THOMAS JR. IS THE DRIVER OF THE MEAN GREEN, LYKINS ENERGY SOLUTIONS, JONATHAN BYRD, PURPLE HEART HOFFMAN SPRINT CAR FOR THE ENTIRE 2018 USAC SEASON. HE HAS WON 2 USAC NATIONAL RACES ALREADY AND IS THE NATIONAL POINTS LEADER. WE ARE SO PROUD OF HIM AS A DRIVER, COMPETITOR AND GREAT YOUNG MAN. ALONG WITH THE TEAM , DAVEY JONES CREW CHIEF , BRAD AND OTHER MEMBERS OF KT’S TEAM, WE FEEL WE WILL BE IN THE HUNT FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP ALL THE WAY AND ARE PROUD THEY ARE CARRYING THE HOFFMAN COLORS.

Thank you for your continuing support of Hoffman racing and our sponsors. Looking forward to next week, especially Knoxville.

RESULTS FOR THE 2018 LITTLE 500
The Little 500 is a race we look forward to every year.  The fact that we had Eric Gordon in the car made the anticipation for this year’s race even more intense.  We tested two days with Eric to make sure that changes made in the car for 2018 were viable. The major change was incorporating  6 cylinder motor instead of the traditional 410- 8 cylinder we have used in prior years. We also had a primary objective at cutting weight wherever possible.  We knew after the testing that we had a very good car for the race and the driver .
We were content with qualifying mid-pack, if not happy.  A great crowd saw Eric just ride the first part of the race.  No one knows more about how to win this race than a 9 time winner. Around lap 100 he starting passing cars, he was running his race.  Shortly after that he was on the board, running 5th.  A bad vibration developed after we saw sparks fly from the bottom of the car around lap 168.  Eric came in and the crew cracked off about a 12 second pit stop and sent him back out.  Unfortunately the problem, we later discovered was  a broken U joint(with only one race on it) was terminal . The crew every year has taken great pride in quick efficient pit stops  , which we know is a competitive advantage for us. We feel like if we were around for the end of the race, we would have been a factor.
A big shout out to Kevin Doran and his crew for preparing the car and executing a strategic plan.  Thanks to Jason, Noah and Jake Simmons and the rest of the crew for a great effort.  Eric Gordon hasn’t lost a thing, he is still a great champion.

ANOTHER FAST TIME, HEAT RACE WIN AND GREAT A MAIN RUN AT TERRE HAUTE

Kevin Thomas Jr  gave another tremendous performance in the Mean Green/Lykins Energy Solutions/Jonathan Byrd/Purple Heart Hoffman Sprinter on 23 May at The Action Track.  He ran a blistering 20.574 in qualifying , 0.4 faster than the second fastest car winning another fast time for this year.  Starting 6th in the heat, without the aid of a yellow flag, past the likes of Chase Stockon and Chris Windom to claim the victory.

The A Main saw Stockon and Courtney get away for the field from their starting position up front. KT pulled off some tremendous slide jobs to pass his way up to second place . In the process he prettty much used up his rear tires and we had nothing for Tyler , finishing second. Another great night for the Team.

See you in Nebraska and Iowa .

RESULTS FROM “LETS RACE TWO” AT THE BIG E
Admittedly Eldora is not one of KT’S favorite tracks.  But the two nights of “Lets Race Two” with The Outlaws showed definite signs of improvement in the Mean Green/Lykins Oil/Jonathan Bryd's/Purple Heart Hoffman car.
Night one saw KT go out first in qualifying and lay down a marker of 15.318, that wasn’t beaten by anyone in the field.  Heat 1 saw KT starting 6th , quickly passed his way to 3rd and was gaining ground on both Davy D and Chris Windom when the 8 laps were completed without the yellow we needed to catch the two, we were coming. The field in tne A main got spread out and KT passed for 5th on the last lap.
Night two had KT qualifying 3, another great qualifying effort. He won heat 3 and placed 6th in the feature, leading early on until lap 4.
We left Eldora with a slim lead over Chris in the National Championship standings.

We look forward to seeing all the fans in the midwest at Granite City Ill. and Pevely Mo.

KTJ GETS OUT THE BROOM AND SWEEPS THE USAC SPRINT EVENT AT PLYMOUTH SPEEDWAY IN THE MEAN GREEN/LYKINS OIL/JONATHAN BYRD/PURPLE HEART HOFFMAN MACHINE
It has been some time since a driver has pulled off the SWEEP of a USAC Sprint show, fast time in qualifying, heat race win and feature win at the same event.  Kevin had a fast time of 13.089(just a tick off the track record), won a tough heat race one with the likes of Courtney, Bacon, Leary and Cummins among others and finished the night with the feature win.

Starting 6th in the A main , KT patiently moved forward and started to catch Courtney, the leader ,at the half way mark. Kevin used the yellow to formulate a plan to pass Tyler by analyzing the line he was taking in all 4 turns. On lap 23 he pulled off the pass by running low in 1&2. Robert Ballou followed and on the last lap, lapped traffic held up KT,and Robert tried a bump and run on the Mean Green car in turns one and two.  Using his terrific car control, KT saved the car and motored on for the win.

The second USAC National Sprint win in a row rang the total for the storied Hoffman Team to 98 USAC National points awarding wins and 104 USAC National Sprint Car wins to go along with a record setting 11 USAC National Sprint Car Championships.

Next weekend we run two nights with The Outlaws at the famous Eldora Speedway.  If you never have attended, the value for you money and racing received in unmatched during the year in my opinion

TRI-STATE SPEEDWAY, HAUBSTADT INDIANA
The sign of a great athlete is to overcome adversity. kTJ is a great athlete.  Haubstadt showed what he is made of in spades.  Third quick time in qualifying was followed by a win in heat 3.  What followed was a very memorable feature win.  Half way through the race he took advantage of cars running 2nd and 3rd banging wheels and passed them for 2nd place. With 4 laps left he pulled a masterful pass, inching his way between the car of CJ Leary and the front stretch wall .  He pulled away the final 4 laps for his first win in The Mean Green Hoffman Jonathan-Byrd Purple Heart Car.
Congrats KTJ, Davey ,Brad and crew for a great win.  (Phil's Photos)

BLOOMINGTON INDIANA
KTJ and the USAC Team opened the action at Bloomington Speedway Friday night.  We have been fast all year and Bloomington was no exception.  Kevin went out mid-way in group two and turned the second quick time.  He followed it by an impressive win in the heat race. Starting 5th on the narrow Bloomington track, he had no where to go as the inside row didn’t take off.  He searched for a way around.  Screaming down the back stretch, KTJ got high in turn 3, jumped the narrow cushion and drove off the track. Keeping the car running, he rejoined the field on the front stretch. Needless to say a promising night was over. KTJ drove hard the rest of the way, with little passing possible  ,finishing 16th.

TEAM TWO, LAWRENCEBURG SATURDAY NIGHT
The Team of Richard, Dan, Tim, Jeremy and Mark prepared the car for Thomas Meseraull .  We won the heat race and looked good in the A main as Thomas was settling into the Mean Green Hoffman Machine. Half way through the 25 lap feature, it looked like we had something for them. The car was good but not good enough to get a win for Thomas, finishing 3rd.  We want to thank T-Mez for driving his butt off for us.  He was great to work with, great feedback and a lot of fun to be with.  Thank you Thomas, see you soon.

The combination of Mean Green, Hoffman and Kevin Thomas Jr. had a very successful premier in the USAC National Sprint Car Series at Bubba Raceway park in O'Cala Florida from Feb 15-17.  We had a very fast car all 3 nights, got fast qualifier 2 of the 3 nights, finished 2nd, 3rd and 2nd in heat races.

Our challenge was to pass from the 2nd and 3rd row on what ended up being a very narrow track, actually taking rubber one of the nights. A  main finishes of 2nd, 3rd and 4th got us off to a great points position heading to the next race March 31st .

Night 3 KT had come from 6th and was passing for 2nd when the 2nd place car made contact with a lapped car, KT had no place to go ,made contact and somehow kept the car going, but fell to 7th.  KT got his elbows up and in 8 laps passed back to 4th position.
Bottom line is that the car was fast, KT drove his ***** off , Davey and Brad worked their ****s off and we are excited as can be for the rest of the year.
See you at out home track, The Burg.

It’s a great opportunity, and I’m incredibly thankful to get to be a small piece of their history. We’re going to make a run at the sprint car championship. I think it’d be cool to get them their 12th title. I was fortunate enough to have an amazing season this past year, and I hope we can duplicate in 2018. I’m really looking forward to driving the No.69,” said Kevin Thomas Jr.

“We were thrilled to be able to work out a partnership with KT to acquire his considerable driving talents for 2018.
